After many, many years of waiting we are finally going to get a sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Adam McKay is set to direct and write the script with Will Ferrell, and stars Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner and Christina Applegate are all on-board to reprise their roles from the first movie. But who will be the new blood that gets introduced in the sequel? Today it seems we may have found out about one.

The Wrap is reporting that there have been discussions with Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig to play a part in the Anchorman: The Legend Continues. While the script is still being written, apparently the comedic actress would largely be working with Carell on the movie, the site suggesting her to "a love interest of some kind" (you may remember that Carell played Brick Tamland, the remarkably stupid individual who reports weather for the Channel 4 Evening News team). The site makes it unclear if she has been made an offer for the movie or if she is just a name of interest that's floating around. Should she join on she will be the first non-principal actor to sign on for the new film, which will reportedly have an increased number of musical numbers.

Whether Wiig will have time to do the movie could be the real question, however, as she will have a lot of promoting and filming to do in 2013. She's completed her part on movies including Hateship, Friendship, Despicable Me 2 and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, but she is currently in the midst of filming The Skeleton Twins with Bill Hader, Luke Wilson and Ty Burrell and lending her voice to How To Train Your Dragon 2.
