Peter Berg Makes Hancock 2 Sound A Lot Like Hancock 1

It’s sort of surprising that, even though the first one was pretty awful, there hasn’t been movement on a sequel for Hancock. Will Smith’s summer tentpole god movie made a lot of money for Sony and while there was a lot of buzz over doing a Hancock 2 when it debuted there’s been almost nothing since. Maybe Sony realized that you can stick Will Smith in anything and make that kind of money, so why bother with more Hancock?
Director Peter Berg hasn’t, however, given up on another movie. He’s in no rush, with plenty of other projects on his plate, but he does have a few ideas for the follow up and he shared them with Sci Fi Wire. Says Berg, “There might be another god out there.” So basically Peter you’re saying the first movie would end up in yet another god versus god battle? Wow, what an idea. I guess if it worked once...
As for where the sequel’s at Berg insists that while the studio would like to fast-track it, “we're excited to do one, but we want the script to be right and the movie to be right. We don't feel a burning imperative to go right back into it.”
