Over the summer director Joe Johnston and stars Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving flew to San Diego Comic Con just a week into shooting Captain America: The First Avenger, and almost unbelievably, they had an entire scene's worth of footage to show off. As you can read in Eric's liveblog from the event, the scene featured Weaving's Nazi character Johann Schmidt (later to become the villainous Red Skull) on a search in Norway for the all-powerful Tesseract, a.k.a. the Cosmic Cube. When he finds the cube a priest warns him that no man is meant to hold all the power it can provide, and Schmidt, being a power-hungry Nazi and all, assures him he is wrong.

While the scene itself is still months away from being revealed when Captain America opens on July 22 this year, now you can finally get at least a glimpse at what we saw in San Diego. A reader at Superhero Hype took to their message boards with scanned images from the latest SFX magazine, one of which shows off Schmidt holding that all-powerful cube. If you're a Captain America layman like me it looks like Hugo Weaving holding a giant ice cube, but I trust the Marvel faithful among you will be as excited as the Comic Con kids were.
