Rogen On Making Green Hornet

It’s a little hard to believe, but it looks like Seth Rogen really is the guy starring in and making the long gestating Green Hornet movie. Personally, I think it’s kind of a waste of Rogen’s considerable talents sticking him on a third-rate superhero character which probably doesn’t need a movie to begin with, but he forgot to ask my opinion before agreeing to do it.

Rogen recently spoke to MTV about the project, and he seems really into making a kickass action movie. “We made ‘Pineapple Express’, which is an action-comedy, but the action is the thing that stood out to the people we’ve shown the movie to so far - and my favorite types of movies are action/adventure movies, so that’s what we’re trying to do. We really want to make it an awesome action movie.”

When the announcement that Rogen was Hornet first broke, I think a lot of people were afraid the franchise was in for some sort of awful parody . But that doesn’t seem to be the case. Seth may just be taking this seriously. He says that he and his writing partner Evan Goldberg, “write movies based on relationships, and that’s what drew us to ‘The Green Hornet’,” he said. “It’s about these two guys who fight crime together…it’s the only really quote-unquote ’superhero-type movie’ that is about that…Batman would still be Batman without Robin, but Green Hornet would probably be useless without Kato.”
