Sam Raimi May Take A Break Before Directing Warcraft

If I were to honestly guess, I'd say even Sam Raimi doesn't know exactly what he's going to do next. He obviously had other plans in line when Spider-Man 4 fell apart last week, but let's give the guy a break-- he just lost the franchise that made him an A-list director, and probably deserves at least a week or two of contemplation before diving into the next big thing.

But that won't stop the likes of us, along with people who actually know Raimi, from speculating anyway. Producer Robert Tapert, who worked with Raimi way back in the Evil Dead days as well as on Drag Me to Hell, says that Warcraft, the video game adaptation that's widely speculated to be Raimi's next project, might not be coming so soon after all. "I don't want to speak on Sam's behalf, because the Spider-Man thing happened so recently,," Tapert told If Magazine. "I think he's getting his feet under him and trying to decide. He might want to do a teeny, tiny small film, but I don’t know what he wants to do. I know he had a great time doing Drag Me to Hell."

Raimi could make 10 more movies like Drag Me to Hell and I'd be perfectly happy, but I imagine there a lot of people with dollar signs in their eyes who think otherwise. What Tapert does know, though, is that Warcraft is still in progress and will happen eventually. We just might be treated to another dose of horror Raimi first.
