If you were up this morning to watch the Oscar nominations announced live, you saw the The 85th Annual Academy Awards host Seth MacFarlane and Gangster Squad's Emma Stone reading off the nominees, among which was a nomination for MacFarlane for Original Song ("Everybody Needs a Best Friend" from Ted). The Family Guy creator now has something in common with Golden Globes hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey in that he's set to host an awards show this year in which he's also a nominee.

There are five new promos for the Oscars, which give us a sample of MacFarlane's sense of humor (if you're not already familiar with it from Ted, Family Guy or any of his other projects). Watch them below.

"Hi, I'm Seth MacFarlane (ask your kids), and I'll be hosting the Oscars (ask your parents)."

Whether or not the audience (both at the Awards and at home) appreciate MacFarlane's hosting style remains to be seen. He did a decent job (and showed off his impressive compatibility with wigs) when he hosted Saturday Night Live, and he's held his own as roastmaster at a couple of the Comedy Central Roasts, but roasts and sketch comedy series are different atmospheres from the Oscars, so they may not be applicable examples. We'll find out one way or the other when the Academy Awards air on "Oscar Sunday," February 24 at 7:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
