Star Trek Sequel Already Being Planned

The buzz on Star Trek’s upcoming new voyage is so good, that Paramount is already prepping a sequel. Variety says they’ve already rehired the writers of the first film to get working on the sequel: Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof are back on the payroll.

What isn’t known is whether JJ Abrams will be back to direct. He is on board as a producer along with Kurtzman and Lindeloff, as well his other Bad Robot production company partners. Whether he’ll end up back behind the camera though, remains up in the air and since there’s no script, we also don’t know what it’s about. Presumably it will involve at least one person with pointed ears. Kurtzman says they’re waiting to see how the audience responds to the first one. I’d have done that before planning a sequel, but now even if we all hate it they’re doing it again.
