I'm still excited about Rod Lurie's Straw Dogs remake primarily because it seems to offer James Marsden a chance to break out of the baby-blues matinee icon roles he's generally associated with. In a new take on the original Sam Peckinpah fim, Marsden stars as a Hollywood screenwriter who moves with his wife (Kate Bosworth) to her hometown in Mississippi, where he clashes with the local residents who don't want anything to do with his Yankee ways.

Who knows how much ass he'll get to kick, or how well a good performance from him would fit in with the rest of the film, but I'm looking forward to it anyway. Now Variety is reporting that the production is finally getting started in Shreveport, Louisiana, and three new cast members have been added. James Woods, Dominic Purcell and Willa Holland will all contribute their talents, though the article doesn't specify what roles they'll play.
