There goes that idea.

Earlier, Katey and I suggested five new hosts for the Academy Awards, now that Seth MacFarlane has said he isn’t interested in returning to the gig. Our final suggestion was the team of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who recently slayed it at the Golden Globes and easily could work the room at the Oscars. I believe they’d be a natural choice to host the Oscars, and should have no trouble doing better than MacFarlane or other past hosts.

Well, Fey disagrees.

While speaking with The Huffington Post as part of the promotional tour for her movie Admission, Fey immediately shot down the idea that she might be in contention to host next year’s Academy Awards.
I just feel like that gig is so hard. Especially for, like, a woman -- the amount of months that would be spent trying on dresses alone ... no way.”

Fey was pretty adamant, even as the reporter pressed. So it sounds like, for now, she’s out. But so much can change between now and next year. Admission could be considered a Best Picture frontrunner. But if the Academy really wanted Fey to host, I think they could be persuasive. She’s absolutely gifted enough to handle that experience, and years spent in front of a live camera on Saturday nights served as battle training. It’s a longshot, but we can always hope that Fey comes around and tries the gig. If not, call Neil Patrick Harris.
