Warm Bodies Poster Shows Nicholas Hoult As A Zombie With A Warm Heart

It's been a while since we've seen anything new for Summit's upcoming adaptation of Isaac Marion's Warm Bodies. With the film set to arrive in theaters early next year, we should hopefully get to see a teaser or trailer soon enough. In the meantime, the first poster for the film has arrived, and it focuses on the novel's protagonist, R, a zombie with a big heart.
Warm Bodies follows R, a zombie shuffling around a post-apocalyptic world, living a relatively healthy, dead life at a zombie-infested airport when he comes upon a living girl named Julie during a routine hunt in the city. Their encounter sparks something in R and a connection is formed. Nicholas Hoult is set to play R in the film, with Teresa Palmer as Julie. Dave Franco, John Malkovich and Rob Corddry are also among the cast.
Here's the new poster, which focuses on R in his slacker outfit (a shift from the shirt-and-tie ensemble he sports in the book), a slouched pose and a fittingly dead stare on his face as he stands before a blood-red backdrop, next to the words "Cold Body. Warm Heart." Funny. And the fold-creases in the poster are a nice touch.
"Cold Body, Warm Heart."
I'm going to admit, I was apprehensive when I picked up Warm Bodies, believing it to be someone's attempt to create a sappy love story between a zombie and a human. There's no sappiness involved - or what there might be is acknowledged as such. The story is told from the mind of R, a zombie that is far more alert and aware than he appears to be on the outside. The novel looks at the state of a crumbling world from a zombie's perspective. It's not Twilight in its mushy romance, nor is it Night of the Living Dead in its horror and gore. Warm Bodies finds its own bizarre, amusing and thought-provoking corner of the undead-focused fantasy-horror genre, and it should be interesting to see how the story is adapted for the movie.
Hopefully we'll see a trailer or even some new photos soon enough. The previously released photos gave us a look at Nicholas Hoult as R, but we've yet to get a good look at the rest of the characters or the other zombies. I'm particularly excited to see Rob Corddry zombified as R's pal M. With the film set to release in theaters February 1, perhaps Summit has a trailer on the way (maybe on or near the Breaking Dawn release?)
