Weekend Box Office

The Summer Movie Phenomenon has come to a close. And like every summer before it, this one ended on a slow note. Miramax’s import took the top slot this weekend edging one over CG snakes. Applause is called for Jet Li, what a way to redeem yourself after doing a series of movies with rappers & Tom Arnold. Ben Kingsley’s thriller also opened this week....but didn’t bode so well, neither did this week’s other main release that didn’t even make the top ten. It’s no surprise that the Scott Baio fronted SuperBabies: Baby Geniuses 2 sank Sumo wrestler trying to surf on an ironing board. Alien Vs. Predator continues to dip, dragging Exorcist: The Beginning with it.

We’ve seen a lot of strange things this summer. I won’t go into anything further other than just who were the winners and losers (“2004 Critics United” is under way). Big Winners: Shrek 2, Spider-Man 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Bourne Supremacy, & Fahrenheit 9/11. Big Losers: Thunderbirds, Around the World in 80 Days, Catwoman, King Arthur, & Chronicles of Riddick. ring on the Fall! Anyways.....enough yapping. Here’s this weeks Top Ten...
