Furious 7 With Lightsabers Is Badass And Amazing, See For Yourself

Fist fights in the Fast & Furious series are, by themselves, incredibly badass. The battle between Vin Diesel and The Rock (on screen, not off!) in Fast Five raised the bar on the bone-crunching scale, and ever since, the franchise finds new ways to raise the bar, whether it's by pitting The Rock against Jason Statham, or Paul Walker against a truckload of armed guards. Now, a fan found a way to increase the badassness ten fold. They added lightsabers.

The scene in question is the culmination of James Wan's Furious 7, and it boasts the marquee-worthy fight between franchise founder Vin Diesel and the current thorn in his side, Jason Statham. The Expendables co-star hates Diesel's Dom Toretto because the car expert wiped out Statham's younger brother. It's time to settle the score, only, YouTuber ImmersionVFX decided to up the cool factor by turning Toretto and Shaw into Jedi.

It works because, as you can see in the original video, Dom and Shaw chose long, metallic tools for their "street fight." Dom has a pipe and a wrench. Shaw, meanwhile, breaks out two bent pieces of his busted up car. And as you can see by the above video, they perfectly translate intoStar Wars-style lightsabers for a fantastic and totally epic fight that's equal parts science fiction and bare-knuckle street-level combat.

I still have no clue how these two filmed this scene without actually taking a pipe to the skull, or a wrench to the teeth. The action moves so quickly, and the misses are near misses, at best. It's a brutal, wincing fight sequence, one of the best in the entire Fast & Furious franchise.

And it's only cooler with lightsabers.

What ranks as the coolest lightsaber battle in the Star Wars franchise? There are a number that people can choose from, and for all the grief that the prequel trilogy gets, I think that George Lucas staged some exciting fights -- ones that had real weight and consequence. If I had to choose, I'd probably go with Anakin and Obi-Wan on Mustafar, the fight that indirectly leads to the creation of Darth Vader, as we know and love him.

If you had to hand pick a movie fight that could be made that much cooler by adding lightsabers, which one would you choose? Let us know in the comments section below.
