Russell Crowe Built A Replica Of His Pub On The Mummy Set To Throw A Huge Party

Russell Crowe may be an Academy Award-winning actor, but he has rather varied interests, as evidenced by the fact he once owned a portion of a rugby league and was the singer for the band 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts. He also owns a pub in Australia and even went so far as to recreate it for his fellow cast members and crew on the set of The Mummy in London. Crowe's co-star Jake Johnson recently revealed:

He built on the soundstage in England a replica pub of his pub in Australia and threw a cast and crew party there one night. If you don't love that about the guy, there's something wrong with ya.

We already know that a lot of the cast members on the set of The Mummy had a rough go of it, at least when they were shooting the plane scene, so it's kind of nice to know that there was some fun and games on the set of the recently released Dark Universe movie, as well. Jake Johnson told EW that he personally wasn't on the set a lot with Russell Crowe, as he plays Nick Morton's pal Sergeant Chris Vail and Crowe popped up as Prodigium head Dr. Henry Jekyll, but that he did think the set party was very cool.

Jake Johnson also mentioned that his other co-stars were also lovely, particularly mentioning that Tom Cruise is "willing to get hurt" simply for "our entertainment." However, I'd still say building a replica pub is wild enough that it trumps Tom Cruise willing to undergo bodily harm. Sorry, Cruise.

The Mummy hasn't had the best box office output this week, so we don't know if a Mummy 2 will be in the cards in the future. Still, there are plenty of other projects that Universal has coming up, so the Dark Universe doesn't look to be going anywhere, anytime soon.

The good news for those involved with Universal's Dark Universe is that Russell Crowe should theoretically be around for more shenanigans in future movies, which will include characters like the Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man, Frankenstein's Monster and more. We already know that Prodigium will be the connective thread between each of the movies, much like Claire Temple is the connective thread between Marvel's Netflix shows. As the head of Prodigium, there's a strong possibility that Dr. Henry Jekyll will be back for future movies.

The Bride Of Frankenstein is the next movie coming in the Dark Universe, and we'll keep you updated as that project moves forward. In the meantime, you can catch The Mummy in theaters now, or read up more on what we know about the big monster franchise.
