There really is nothing like The Conjuring universe in Hollywood these days. After two stellar horror films and two innovative spinoffs (the latest of which recently hit theaters), James Wan's spooky franchise has handily turned into one of the best film series in recent memory. With scares, style, and a hell of a lot of filmmaking skill on full display in each subsequent entry, we couldn't be more excited for what this universe will bring us next.
On that note (and on the heels of Annabelle: Creation's critical and financial success), we think now is the perfect time to look forward into the future. We have compiled a list of every confirmed Conjuring movie currently in development, and we will keep this handy guide updated as new information becomes available to us. Now, let's dive in and see what's next in the world of ghosts, spirits, and demons.
As of right now, the next entry in The Conjuring universe is Corin Hardy's The Nun -- which will center on the demonic Valak entity introduced during the events of The Conjuring 2. In terms of chronology, The Nun will be the first film on The Conjuring timeline (reportedly taking place sometime in the 1940s or 1950s), and it will center on a priest who travels to Rome to investigate the mysterious death of a nun. The film stars Taissa Farmiga (the sister of The Conjuring's Vera Farmiga) and Alien: Covenant's Damian Bichir, and is the only upcoming Conjuring film with a set release date.

The Crooked Man
Following the release of The Nun, James Wan's Conjuring universe will once again go for another spinoff from a monster introduced during the events of The Conjuring 2. However, this time we will see a movie centering on The Crooked Man folktale. We do not know nearly as much about The Crooked Man as we do about The Nun, but Wan has come out and confessed that it would feel considerably different from other installments in The Conjuring universe by focusing far more on the titular entity's "whimsical" fairy tale origins. All we know is this: if his movie is as scary as his short time on-screen in The Conjuring 2, then we're in for a world of terror.

The Conjuring 3
The furthest away Conjuring film is the one from the main franchise. The Conjuring 3 doesn't have a release date, but 2019 or 2020 makes sense. Most fans expect the Warrens to return for the third outing, but recent reports have suggested that the third entry in the series could feel very different from the previous two. For starters, reports suggest The Conjuring 3 could move away from the haunted house concept to focus on an entirely new type of horror -- possibly even werewolves. Beyond that, James Wan has also admitted that his work on Aquaman may keep him from the project, which means a new director may step in.
