Have The Last Jedi’s Opening Scenes Been Revealed? Here's What We Know

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is, slowly but surely, making its way to us this December. With only one trailer we've seen so little of the film, but there may be other places we can look for information. A new children's activity book has been released and while that may be the last place you'd expect to find details about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it's possible that it actually shows the opening scenes of the film. One image spread shows the planet Ahch-To, while the other seems to imply the First Order assault on the Resistance base will happen fairly early in the movie.

The content of the newest Star Wars: Look & Find book, which gives children a picture with a lot going on and asks them to pick out certain objects, is clearly not a direct adaptation of any Star Wars movie. However, as Star Wars News Net points out (click over to them to check out the pictures), while the majority of the book's images are taken from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there are two sets of images that are clearly taken from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. This certainly gives the impression that these two images will happen early in the new film. The scene on Ahch-To is simply a landscape shot that's mostly covered in the adorable porgs that we've seen recently. It certainly doesn't give us much detail. Of course, seeing the planet is no surprise to us, since we already knew that the new movie will pick up where the last one left off. We expect the very first scene to take place there. Of course, that just lends credibility to the idea that the other scene in the book will happen soon after.

The other shot, however, does potentially give us some new details. We've seen in the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi that the Resistance base appears to be attacked. We see Poe Dameron and others running around while things blow up around them. The book shows Poe and BB-8 flying through an assault run by the First Order, which, if we take the chronology here as accurate, would mean that this attack could be the first thing we see in The Last Jedi when it's time for us to catch up with the Resistance.

Children's activity books like this are never designed to tell the story exactly as it is in the movie. They often take some license with the material. At the same time, the book isn't likely to invent entirely original concepts and this material had to come from someplace. At this point, we'll likely have to wait and see when Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in theaters on December 15.
