With only one trailer in existence to support our crippling Star Wars addiction, we're starving for more. Luckily we have a brand new image of Rey from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and she looks awesome. The picture is a simple one, just Rey standing on the edge of a cliff, almost certainly on the same planet where she found Luke Skywalker, armed with her staff. Still, she looks ready to take on the world. Check it out.

While the image may be fairly simple, there's a bit we can still take from it as far as information. Some images of Rey, mostly on the merchandise front, have shown us a Rey that has literally let her hair down, while this image from Yahoo shows her hair in the same style that it was in throughout Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In addition, she's armed with her staff, rather than the lightsaber that we've seen her training with in the trailers. It would seem that the transition for Rey is something that is going to take a bit of time and she won't be changing overnight.

And that makes sense. While there are several things that will reportedly be different between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the rest of the Star Wars saga, one of those things will be the fact that Episode _VIII_ will pick up immediately following the final scene we saw in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. All other Star Wars films have started out years after the previous film ended. If this movie started after significant time had passed, we'd expect to see a very different Rey when the film opened, but that won't happen here.

While the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi showed us a fair amount of Rey and Luke Skywalker, it did so without really showing us anything about their position in the plot of the film. We know from Luke's ominous last words that he believes it is time for the Jedi to end, but even what that means is unclear. We know that Luke will train Rey, but if he's not training Rey to be a Jedi, then what is his ultimate goal?

While there's a lot we don't know about the upcoming film, we may actually begin to get some answers are early as this Friday. September 1st is Force Friday II, the day on which a large quantity of Last Jedi merchandise will be released. There's a good chance that we'll be able to pull details from brand new toys in order to get a better idea of what's going on with the actual characters.
