Avengers 4 Has Wrapped Filming, And The Russos Celebrated With A Strange Image

Although Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 shot back-to-back in 2017, the latter movie rolled cameras again starting last month, going back to shoot extra material as major blockbusters often do nowadays. Now with seven months to go until Avengers 4's release, the movie has wrapped filming for good, and directors Joe and Anthony Russo commented this achievement by sharing a rather strange photo.

Uhh, what exactly are we looking at here? Is this simply some kind of light fixture that one of the Russo brothers snapped a photo of, or is there deeper, story-related meaning here? This is one hell of a tease, but then again, the Russos are known for posting cryptic images on social media.

At first, I thought that this resembled the Tesseract, a.k.a. the Space Stone housed in that cube. But let's not forget that at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos broke that cube housing so that he could add the Space Stone to the Infinity Gauntlet. Granted, if those time travel rumors are true, we could see the Tesseract again in Avengers 4, but even so, this object's shape doesn't quite match what the Red Skull and Loki once used for their sinister machinations.

Looking through the comments to the Russos' Twitter post, some fans noted that the shape of this illuminated object appears to resemble a coffin. If that were the case, that would be the flashiest casket to put a recently deceased individual in, and no doubt was constructed by aliens. Someone else saw similarity between the subject and the chamber Steve Rogers went into to be bombarded by Vita radiation and injected with the Super Soldier Serum in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Whatever's being depicted in this photo, one thing is certain: it marks the beginning of the end of Avengers 4's journey. From here, all that's left to do is post-production work, and there's still plenty of time to edit, get all the visual effects perfected, score the movie, etc. Hopefully this also means that the public will finally be treated to a trailer before the year is over.

Just like with Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel is keeping tight-lipped about what's in store for Avengers 4. At the end of Infinity War, Thanos successfully wiped out half of all life in the universe with his Infinity Stones-powered fingers, leaving survivors like Iron Man and Captain America to simply sit in shock at the genocide that occurred. There have been rumors aplenty about where things go from here, such as Avengers 4 taking place years after Infinity War and the Quantum Realm possibly playing a role in undoing Thanos' actions, but officially speaking, we remain in the dark.

Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3, 2019, so keep checking back with CinemaBlend for more updates about the final Phase 3 installment. In the meantime, you can look through our Marvel movies guide to learn what else the MCU has coming down the pipeline.
