Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ended with Spider-Man: Far From Home, revealed how Earth has moved on sine the harrowing events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. This summer Marvel Studios revealed its initials plans for Phase Four, as well as the release date for other movies like Black Panther 2. But there were a few properties notably left out, including Paul Rudd's Ant-Man franchise. Scott Lang became more intimately involved in the shared universe during Endgame, coming up with the idea of the Time Heist and engaging in the epic final battle. And now it looks like Ant-Man 3's release date may have been leaked.

Marvel Studios is methodical about how it releases information, with a mixture of individual announcements and years-long slates of films. And there are a few movies that don't have official release dates, including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the possible Ant-Man threequel. And a new rumor may indicate when that third solo movie might come to theaters: July 29th, 2022.

This possible release date comes to us from Twitter, as one user may have connections to the inner workings at Marvel Studios. Over the past few months, the same account has been updating Marvel's release schedule, including movies that haven't officially been announced yet. While it remains to be seen if Ant-Man 3's release date comes to fruition, it would certainly make sense for a variety of reasons.

Perhaps the most obvious reason why Ant-Man 3's rumored release date could be legitimate is simply because of how long of a wait we'll have. Phase Four of the MCU will break new ground, as it will include both big screen releases and upcoming shows on Disney+. Marvel Studios has its hands full going forward, with the fourth Phase expected to end with Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder in 2021.

But there are still plenty of movies that will be coming down the line, including Guardians 3, Black Panther's sequel, and Ant-Man's third movie. As such, it stands to reason that fans might have to wait a few years before production begins on Paul Rudd's next movie along The Wasp. Moviegoers will no doubt be antsy to return to that quirky property, especially with the various loose threads left regarding the Quantum Realm, Janet van Dyne, and Ghost. Comic book fans will also want to see which plots from the pages make it onto the screen. And while we wait for an official confirmation from Marvel, you can read up on Ant-Man's adventures here.

Ant-Man 3 getting a summer release would also make a great deal of sense, and would be consistent with the release of director Peyton Reed's first two installments in the MCU. Both Ant-Man and its sequel Ant-Man and The Wasp arrived in the summer months, in 2015 and 2018 respectively. He's a great hero for a fun summer outing at the movies, and it wouldn't be surprising if Marvel Studios remains consistent with Kevin Feige at the head.

The next installment in the MCU will be Black Widow on May 1st, 2020. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
