Watch The First Trailer For Gerardo Naranjo's Miss Bala

Late last night I posted the first UK trailer for Lars von Trier's Melancholia. In my post I mentioned that the film had been a bit overshadowed by its publicity, as the director was notoriously kicked out of the Cannes Film Festival for for remarks about Nazis that were deemed "unacceptable, intolerable, and contrary to the ideals of humanity and generosity that preside over the very existence of the festival." Tonight we have yet another film that had its premiere at the French festival but we haven't heard much from since: Gerardo Naranjo's Miss Bala.

Starring Stephanie Sigman, Irene Azuela and Miguel Couturier, the film is about a girl who dreams of being a beauty pageant champion. One night, while out at a dance club, she witnesses an absolute massacre, of which she is the only survivor. The criminals then take her hostage and use her as a drug runner. Check out the first trailer for Miss Bala below:

The film, which will be distributed by Twentieth Century Fox, is set to have its North American premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival and, according to IMDb, will have a limited release in the US come October 14th.
