The Internet has been having a field day with the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie divorce ever since it was announced earlier this week. Everyone is speculating why the Brangelina split happened, GIFs of Jennifer Aniston talking about closure pretty much took over Twitter, and another major actress is having her name brought up a ton in the media circus as well.
French actress turned blockbuster star Marion Cotillard found herself caught up in the Brangelina debates for the simple fact that she has been filming a movie with Brad Pitt over the course of this year. On Wednesday, Cotillard took to Instagram to shoot down the rumors of an affair with Brad Pitt, stating that she is completely devoted to her long-term boyfriend, French actor and director Guillaume Canet.
Cotillard and Canet have been in a relationship since 2007. The couple has one son together, 5-year-old Marcel, and they are currently expecting another child.
At the end of her note, Marion Cotillard goes on to wish the best for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in the midst of the highly publicized divorce proceedings.
The rumors of Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard's alleged affair likely began because the two actors are costarring as love interests in the upcoming historical drama Allied. Pitt and Cotillard play two assassins during World War II who fall in love while both on a lethal mission. Sound similar to another Brad Pitt movie, in which he played a deadly spy who falls for another deadly spy? Rhymes with "Shmister and Shmisses Shmith."
As anyone who glanced at a tabloid in the mid-2000s well knows, Brad Pitt met Angelina Jolie while filming a movie together as well, at the same time that he was going through a separation with his then-wife Jennifer Aniston. Though it has never been confirmed, many believe that Pitt began dating Jolie on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and the relationship wound up being a major reason for his and Aniston's divorce.
This coincidence is what's fueling the fires for the affair rumor, but Marion Cotillard sounds sincere in her implied denial of any relationship with Brad Pitt in her Instagram post. Read it for yourself below.
