Last year, it was reported that Kevin Hart was being extorted with a compromising sex tape in an effort to blackmail the actor/comedian into paying millions. Though the story quickly became public, particularly because Hart issued a public apology about his regrets on his social media account, it wasn't yet known who was blackmailing Hart into handing over all that dough. That changes now, as a man has recently been charged for the crude and illegal act, and the subject-in-question is reportedly someone Kevin Hart knows pretty well. As it was revealed, the main subject is Jonathan Todd Jackson, a fellow actor and (formally) close friend to Hart for over 15 years. Wowza; that's gotta hurt. Jackson is currently being charged with two felony counts: attempted extortion and extortion by threatening letter.
As TMZ unfurls, Jonathan Todd Jackson was allegedly attempting to extort Kevin Hart into coughing over a whole lot of money to prevent a unsavory video, which showed Hart with a woman who wasn't his wife having sex in his Vegas hotel room, from being released. In exchange for the heft stacks of cash, the man (now believed to be Jackson) would keep the video hidden. Both Hart and the woman inside the video claim they didn't know they were being filmed, and it came at a terrible time for Hart, as his wife Eniko Parrish was pregnant at the time with her first child with Hart, five-month-old Kenzo Kash Hart. In the social media address related to the unflattering situation, a sorrowful Kevin Hart had the following to say, expressing remorse for his unfaithful actions and lewd misbehavior.
I'm at a place in my life where I feel like I have a target on my back, and because of that, I should make smart decisions. And recently, I didn't. You know, I'm not perfect. I'm not going to sit up here and say that I am or claim to be in any way shape or form. And I made a bad error in judgment, and I put myself in a bad environment where only bad things can happen, and they did. And in doing that I know that I'm going to hurt the people closest to me, who've I talked to and apologized to, that would be my wife and my kids. And I just, you know, it's a shitty moment. It's a shitty moment when you know you're wrong and there are no excuses for your wrong behavior. At the end of the day, man, I just simply have got to do better. But I'm also not going to allow a person to have financial gain off of my mistakes, and in this particular situation that was what was attempted. I said I'd rather fess up to my mistakes.
What must make this whole situation devastating for Kevin Hart is that Jonathan Todd Jackson has been by his side for nearly two decades. He appeared in Think Like A Man Too and he even attended Hart's bachelor party. It's also not hard to find a variety of different photos of the former friends together. In a tweet seemingly related to this nasty ordeal, Kevin Hart said the following about Jackson.
As an actor, Kevin Hart was last seen in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle last year. He'll next appear on the big screen in Night School, opposite Tiffany Haddish, which enters theaters on September 28th. The big-time comedian is also getting the new Fox animated series Lil Kev, which was recently announced. It was also revealed a few weeks ago that Jumanji 2 is officially in the works.
