For whatever reason People's World's Most Beautiful Woman issue doesn't get the same hype as the Sexiest Man in the World, probably because the primary audience for People is female, and they're way more likely to ogle the shirtless Bradley Cooper spread than pore over yet another series of airbrushed photo shoots of beautiful women. Still, People made a smart move this year by making the World's Most Beautiful Woman a person we already talk about pretty much no matter what she does, especially if it involves her recently born first child.

As announced on The Today Show this morning, Beyonce is this year's Most Beautiful Woman cover girl, smiling on the cover in a giant turquoise necklace and the somewhat gross tagline "Back after baby!" (Had she gone somewhere? Hasn't she just been hanging out in New York?) In the interview she gave to the magazine, which hits newsstands April 27, Beyonce had this to say about motherhood:

"I feel more beautiful than I've ever felt because I've given birth. I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this earth."

Don't be surprised if that exact phrase makes its way into a future Beyonce track, not only because that kind of sounds like something she'd sing anyway, but her husband Jay-Z has already proven he's willing to use Blue Ivy as artistic inspiration. Presumably we'll learn much more from new mom Beyonce in the full issue of People, but I'm mostly preparing for some serious envy of her fit post-baby body-- it's inevitable that she'll be in better shape 5 months after giving birth than I've ever been or ever will be. It's that kind of work that gets the Most Beautiful Woman people knocking on your door, I guess.
