Subscribe To JK Rowling's The Casual Vacancy Plot Synopsis Revealed, Available For Pre-Order Updates
A few days ago, we learned that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s next literary offering would come in the form of a novel for grown-ups called The Casual Vacancy. Those who are counting down the days until they can get their hands on the book have to wait until September, however it’s not too early to pre-order. already has the book set up for pre-order in hardcover, audio and the Kindle edition (e-Book). The website also has a brief plot synopsis for the story, which builds onto what we already knew about the focus on a town. Here’s what Amazon has listed for the description for The Casual Vacancy
When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town’s council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

War, drama, and an election, not to mention “unexpected revelations”? Sounds intriguing! While this book sounds very different from the magical world in the Harry Potter series, Rowling certainly demonstrated her knack for building an exciting, imaginative world full of well-developed characters and lots of drama among them in that series, and that experience may serve her well with this story. As a fan, I’ll be eager to “visit” Pagford and meet the characters involved in this story.
