Philip Seymour Hoffman Developed Heroin Problem, Went To Rehab To Fix It

Philip Seymour Hoffman’s more than twenty year streak of sobriery reportedly ended a little more than a year ago, and in the time since, the Academy Award winning actor has reportedly been inching closer and closer to a full-on downward spiral. The substance abuse issue reportedly started with prescription pills but wound up escalating to the point in which he spent about a week earlier this month snorting heroin.

According to TMZ, Hoffman, with the help of his family and friends, realized he couldn’t possibly go on like that. So, he decided to be proactive about it and checked into a rehabilitation facility for ten days. That stretch ended last Friday, and now, he’s already back on a movie set in Europe doing what he does best.

PSH might not be the type of guy who studios slap on the top of a poster to sell tickets, but in his own way, he is one of the most in-demand actors in all of Hollywood. Being incredibly talented, being a team player and being a class act whose professionalism is never in doubt has its perks. Fortunately for Hoffman, he was able to think logically enough about his situation not to screw up that reputation.

Pop Blend’s sincerest well-wishes go out to PSH during this time of need. He’s brought all of us so much joy over the past few decades with his wonderful body of work. Here’s to hoping he’s able to dwell in sobriety and continue to do what he was put here to do.
