We think listening to your favorite podcasts while showering might be the pinnacle of life. Bold, yes, but what a joy! That is why we are so in love with this speaker from iFox––it's 100% waterproof, even when submerged in 3ft of water thanks to it's IPX7 rating.

This offering from iFox has everything you need in a shower speaker, like a built-in, long-lasting suction cup to get the position just right. But really, this speaker doesn't need to be just for the shower. It can be placed anywhere around the house to enhance the room. The iFox has a built-in mic for hands free calls, and works with Siri, so as long as your speaker is with you, you'll be able to answer any question that pops into your head. No more arguing with your friends about what actor starred in that one movie––Siri has got you covered.

And if you do decide to leave one in the shower, the 33ft Bluetooth range is enough to leave phones outside the bathroom to avoid steam, which those of us without waterproof phones appreciate.

With 360 degree sound, it's hard not to fall in love with this offering from Comiso. The non-directional sound is perfect for outdoors activities, especially camping where you have a group of people in an open space and directional sound ain't going to cut it. Sound wise, the Comiso had distinct mids and highs from the two 6W precision acoustic drivers, which gives it a crisp sound and a volume of 97dB––more than enough for around the campfire.

If you're at a particularly large outdoor event, you have the option to pair any two Comiso speakers and control them from a singular device. And with a 60ft Bluetooth range, your phone can be well out of range while the speakers take the splash with ease thanks to their IPX5 water resistant rating.

World renowned for their incredible sound, the JBL Charge 3 continues this legacy. With an IPX7 Waterproof rating, this speaker is water submersible up to 3 ft. Along with this fantastic waterproof rating is the ability to sync up multiple speakers to create immersive sound no matter where you are. If you want to create a small orchestral symphony that plays the Titanic score in your shower, we support you.

The noise reduction feature is very handy, allowing you to take calls without too much interference. People barely notice a difference in sound between taking calls on your phone vs taking them on the speaker, which we think is quite impressive.

One of the underrated things about this speaker is that is doubles as a power bank. No more getting caught in the outdoors without a charger––just simply plug into the JBL Charge 3 with your USB and you're all set!

We found that this speaker topped out at about 88dB at max volume with a bassy sound, thanks to the 2×10 watt inbuilt speakers.

At 9-inches long, we'll admit that this speaker seems bulkier than you think it'll be. It wasn't a bad thing by any means, but it has a certain rugged feel. On that note, we enjoyed the physical buttons that stick up and allow you to feel what you're doing without looking.

Key Features

  • Power bank to charge your phone
  • Water submersible up to 3ft
  • Able to sync with multiple speakers

VicTsing SoundHot C6

You know those situations where you really want to listen to something but you phone volume just isn't enough? Like, when a new trailer comes out or you're listening to thrilling podcast episode with a group of friends. It's those situations where the VicTsing shines.

This speaker is the perfect size to clip onto the backpack and cruise around. You can also easily have one stashed in each room of the house or include in your suitcase for trips.

Though the C6 is resistant to splashes and steam, it not equipped for full water submersion, so have it near the shower but not in it.

As far as sound quality goes, the C6 uses an advanced audio distribution profile (A2DP) to transmit sound, which defines how high quality stereo audio can be streamed from one device to another over a Bluetooth connection. This means the sound can be streamed at roughly the equivalent of a high-quality MP3 recording––excellent for a speaker of this size.

The C6 is compatible with iOS and android devices. Plus, the Bluetooth ensures instant pairing and maintains a strong connection up to 33 ft. The removable suction cup and metal clip give the C6 a versatile feel.

All in all, this is a great entry-level speaker for those who want to do a bit of everything.

Key Features

  • Removable suction cup and metal clip
  • Advanced audio distribution profile
  • Compatible with iOS and android devices

5
Ultimate Ears Wonderboom Speaker

Check Latest Price

Seriously, how cool is the look of this speaker? We love the availability of the different colors, like cloud and sub-zero blue. The Wonderboom is certainly smaller than you think it's going to be (about the size of a fat coke can), but don't let the size fool you––this thing packs a punch thanks to the two 40 mm active drivers. With a top volume of 86 dB and a frequency range of 80 Hz – 20 kHz, this speaker provides plenty of volume.

Even better is that with a rating of IPX7, the Wonderboom is completely waterproof up to 3ft deep. Plus, it floats, so if you need a speaker for your next pool party, this is for you. If it gets dirty, just wash it sink.

One issue we found was the way the Wonderboom shows battery life. The manual tells you to hold the volume up and volume down buttons at the same time to hear a "tone" that indicate what the battery level is at––there is a High, Medium and Low tone. We found that it's annoying at first, but you get used to it.

As with many of these speakers, you can pair two Wonderbooms together for a bigger sound.

Key Features

  • Floats on water
  • Available in many striking colors
  • Size of a soda can

We at CinemaBlend know how overwhelming buying a new waterproof speaker can be––that's why we put together this buyer's guide of common terms you'll come across while shopping. Now, you can spend less time worrying what an IPX rating is and more time planning what podcast you're going to listen to at the pool.

IPX rating

The most trusted waterproof rating system of all. The Ingress Protection code, classifies and rates the degree of protection provided by mechanical casings and electrical enclosures against intrusion, dust, accidental contact, and water. Basically, it measures how well will your product hold up when it gets wet and dirty. The scale ranges from IPX0 to IPX8, IPX0 having no protection at all and IPX8 being completely waterproof.

Drivers

A speaker driver is an individual loudspeaker transducer that converts an electrical audio signal to sound waves. Speaker drivers are the primary means for sound reproduction. Drivers and cabinet quality represent close to 50% of the overall quality realized in an audio system, so quality drivers are very important.

Watts

A watt is a measure of electrical power. As an amplifier processes sound, the output is measured in watts. All speakers have a maximum number of watts that they can cope with and the manufacturer will tell you what this is. Normally, the more watts, the more volume is possible.
