Even with all of the interconnected universes in pop culture, it's still always a pretty big event whenever two TV shows decide to merge for a crossover episode (or episodes). While that's something fairly common in The CW's comic book universe and Dick Wolf's Chicago shows, our next primetime get-together will be of the comedic variety, as the worlds of New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine collide into chuckle-dust.
The farce-familiar characters of New Girl Season 6 and Brooklyn Nine-Nine will get to visit and meet one another for a New York City-set hour of comedy on Tuesday, October 11. As you can probably gather, we'll get to see Jake & Co. helping (or harming) Jess and her crew, while the flip side will probably see one of the guys hitting on Rosa and then getting put in jail. I hope Terry Crews gets to bench press Winston.
Unfortunately, details on exactly what viewers can expect are being kept under wraps for now - probably in Holt's desk drawers - and we can only imagine what kind of shenanigans will happen. And it's actually kind of fun to imagine that kind of tomfoolery, as this will be one of the most interesting guest star situations for either TV show. (Oooh, what if Charles and Megan Fox's Reagan get to take awkwardness to the next level?)
If Dan Goor is to be believed, this might be the first in a line of crossover ideas coming to these two shows (and possibly more) in the future. Here's how he put it.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine crossing over with New Girl is very exciting, but (and this is supposed to be a secret) it's just the first step. Stay tuned for our two casts to do a soulful R&B number on Empire, co-anchor the FOX 10 O'Clock News and connect for a touchdown on Fox NFL Sunday.
Is the world ready for a Big Apple where Jess and Jake can co-exist? What kind of dumbass world wouldn't be ready for that?
As you might have imagined, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and New Girl will return to Fox on the same night, Tuesday, September 20. The copper comedy will bring Season 4 to fans at 8:00 p.m. ET, with the rom-com airing Season 6 at 8:30 p.m. ET. And don't forget that the one-hour crossover event will take place on Tuesday, October 11.
