Subscribe To This Is Us Just Got Great News From NBC Updates

If you're already enjoying NBC's new drama This Is Us, you'll be glad to know that the show just got some very good news from the network. It looks like the series will be around for a full season now, so we can all watch the drama for several months to come.

NBC announced today that This Is Us just got a full season order from the network. The drama, which just debuted last week, made waves after it was announced at the network upfronts in May. In the first 48 hours after the show was announced, the trailer was viewed a whopping 15 million times on Facebook, and went on to net over 127 million views on the platform. That anticipation didn't die down as the season debuted, either. This Is Us began its run as the number one new show of the fall, with a 4.5 rating in the coveted 18-49 age bracket, and 14.3 million viewers in Live +5 day averages. The Live + Same Day numbers have made the show NBC's highest rated scripted series in its time slot in over six years. The show is also the network's most viewed series premiere on record on digital platforms. This Is Us now has an 18 episode season.

This Is Us follows an ensemble of characters, many of whom share the same birthday, and whose lives intertwine in interesting ways. The show focuses on married couple Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore), adult twins Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Kevin (Justin Hartley), and Randall (Sterling K. Brown), his wife Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) and his biological father William (Ron Cephas Jones). The show has generally gotten positive reviews from critics, with praise being laid out for the performances of the cast as well as the storylines.

The early runaway success of This Is Us was the perfect incentive for NBC to raise the episode order and give the series a full season. With so much competition for viewers on TV now, it's incredibly rare for a show to come out of the gate with as many viewers as This Is Us had with its premiere episode. I'm sure the powers that be at NBC were glad that the buzz that surrounded the trailer earlier this year actually translated into amazing viewing numbers for the actual show. The series seems to be good at mining family, romantic relationships and friendships for drama, so here's hoping they can keep up the intricate storytelling well enough to keep audiences interested in the long run.

This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC. Be sure to check out our fall TV premiere schedule so that you can mark your calendars for all your returning favorites and the new shows you want to check out.
