Among the many former dramas that have made for great binge-watch material is Ronald D. Moore's Battlestar Galactica remake. With four seasons (and a miniseries), it's actually a pretty manageable binge-watch, for those not looking for a show that'll take them the whole year to get through.
Battlestar Galactica centers on a surviving fleet of humans who are attempting to escape repeated assaults by humanoid robots called Cylons. It's a story of human drama and survival. The very definition of humanity is often put to the test as man wages war against not-quite-man-not-quite-machine.
For reference, any time I reference Battlestar Galactica, I'm talking about the remake, not the original 1978 drama (unless otherwise specified.)
How to Watch Battlestar Galactica
That may seem like an obvious point to make. If you've seen the show, feel free to skip this section, but if you're new to the series, you should know that you must start with the miniseries. Not only is that the beginning of the story -- it introduces many of the characters and some major elements in the story -- but it's also a great way to test the waters and decide if this is the show for you.
You probably heard Battlestar Galactica is great. And you're probably like, "yeah, but I don't really like space shows. People keep telling me not to worry about that, though." Watch the Battlestar miniseries. If you love it, dive into the series. If you don't like the miniseries, well you can say you tried.
