Spoilers ahead for Season 7 of Game of Thrones.
In the blink of an eye, the seventh season of HBO's Game of Thrones has come and gone. And with just a handful of episodes left before the massively popular fantasy drama series ends forever, the pacing was seriously amped up in Season 7. As the army of the dead finally passed the wall, the stakes for the series have never been higher, although there was one aspect of levity this season: Tormund Gianstbane's continued infatuation with Brienne of Tarth. The Wildling is shown creepily smiling and talking about Brienne quite a few times, and now it's been revealed that this behavior didn't stop once the director called cut. Actress Gwendoline Christie explained,
Well, that's pretty hilarious. Looks like actor Kristofer Hivju is all too familiar with how viral and hilarious Tormund's love for Brienne is, and he's not going to let Gwendoline Christie forget about it, either.
Gwendoline Christie's comment comes from her recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. A hardcore Game of Thrones fan, Seth couldn't resist but to get in some questions about Brienne, specifically her viral plot line with Tormund. The Wildling has become a fan favorite over the years, and the audience would love to see Brienne interact with a man who is actually totally into her unconventional beauty. Alas, Brienne has shown Tormund nothing but disdain, so it's probably not going to happen.
After all, Brienne's romantic plot line seems tied with Jaime Lannister. The two got quite close in their journey back to King's Landing in Season 3, and they're both clearly very conflicted when it comes to their romantic feelings toward each other. But now that Jaime has left the capitol to ride north and join Jon and Dany's forces against the dead, perhaps they'll finally be able to seal the deal. It would be particularly poetic if Brienne and Jaime connect in the tower that he and Cersei shared in the very first episode, but we'll see.
It's also not clear of Tormund will live to appear in Season 8. He was guarding Eastwatch when the Night King and a zombified Viserion destroyed a chunk of The Wall, and both he and Beric Dondarrion's fates were left ambiguous in the finale.
