Epic Scrubs Cast Reunion Photo Has Fans Hoping For Season 10

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. But a pic of the Scrubs cast reuniting would only need to stand for these four words to make fans happy: Scrubs is coming back. Over the weekend, Zach Braff got fans' wishing for just such a thing with a full-blown Scrubs cast reunion photo with an intriguing caption. Check it out below:

The story behind the reunion photo is sadly not one that involves the cast's first day of work on Season 10. (Even Rowdy whined sympathetically at that.) So, what was it that brought the Scrubs crew back together again? Well, Scrubs' creator Bill Lawrence reunited with the main cast for a panel at Vulture Festival.

As of this story's publication, the picture Zach Braff shared has been retweeted over 25,000 times and garnered over 137,000 likes. That is a strong testament to fans being more than willing to welcome the return of the beloved dramedy, especially after that totally forgettable final season.

What does Scrubs' creator think about the potential for a revival, though? Per THR, Bill Lawrence responded as such:

I would do anything to get to work with not only this group [but the entire crew]...it was the best time in my life. Sometimes reboots - not all the time - feel like a money grab. If we ever do it, we'll do it as a short little movie or something else. I think the problem from me is I would just want to see where everyone is. I would want to see where their marriages are [as opposed to a huge event].

It sounds like fans can take some solace in the slight potential to eventually visit with these characters again someday. Scrubs would not be the first television show to take the movie route when it came to a limited revival. Whether that comes to fruition with the self-referential hit, only time and network execs will tell.

Perhaps Scrubs could work as a film that bowed on Netflix or Hulu, as opposed to a broadcast network? The latter would be a likelier outlet, considering Scrubs has a streaming deal with the platform that has only kept its popular intact. Otherwise, Netflix or even the upcoming Disney+ streaming service would be an excellent fit for a movie continuation of the medical show.

Not to mention that a streaming service would help the show lessen any censorship it faced during its network run. (Not that J.D. and Turk ever got into R-rated spoofs of Sanford and Son's theme or anything.) Fans would likely welcome whatever sea breeze blows the Scrubs' universe back into their orbit.

There is one key reason for fans to keep hope alive that a Scrubs continuation could eventually take place. The cast and crew are obviously still super-close. That has been a prime ingredient for other series to ultimately get the revival treatment.

In fact, the entire Scrubs cast and crew may not be reuniting (yet), but there is a partial reunion in development. Scrubs' Sarah Chalke and creator Bill Lawrence have teamed for a potential new dramedy series that would see Chalke co-executive producing and starring in the lead role, with Lawrence producing.

It has been over eight years since the series wrapped its run. Scrubs had an impressive one that spanned nine seasons and two networks. Fans will likely remember that the series began on NBC and finished its time on ABC with the two least-beloved seasons.

Scrubs Season 10 may not be happening anytime soon, but no one should give up hope for more from Sacred Heart just yet. The good news is that lots of new content is arriving this fall and throughout the midseason, and you can always go back and watch Scrubs all over again.
