Nora West-Allen has been keeping some secrets, and The Flash is ready to start finally providing some insight. Before heading out on its midseason hiatus, The Flash made a pretty huge reveal. It turns out that Nora has an alliance with Eobard Thawne. Yes, that guy.
With such a major reveal in play, it has hinted at a significant backstory between the two. One that leaves The Flash with a lot to unpack in future episodes. Well, the superhero drama is going to get to the bottom of it and in a fun way.
Showrunner Todd Helbing told TVLine that The Flash would reveal a lot as Season 5 continues. There will be an installment that takes fans to the future to explain the past. Or as he put it "a flash-forward flashback episode." Take a moment to let that settle. Now, back to Helbing.
The Flash's showrunner revealed that the flash-forward flashback episode will explain how Nora and Eobard Thawne's alliance came to be, "which will be a lot of fun." He also shared that fans will gradually begin to get the pieces of information they need. He teased there will "probably" be one episode where The Flash explains how all of that transpired to get Nora back in time.
Todd Helbing did not reveal when exactly to expect this episode. Soon would be a wise guess. It seems that everything is coming to a head and fans have waited a while for this info. Why keep making them wait?
The trailer for the midseason premiere heavily intimated that Nora was the one responsible for locking her dad up in The Pipeline. Not exactly the kind of father/daughter bonding one would have in mind for the two. Maybe she wants some one-on-one time with her dad's undivided attention? Unlikely, but still.
While flashback episodes are always a fun way to reveal information to the audience, one huge question remains. Will viewers be seeing these "flashback/forwards" scenes because Nora is revealing the truth to someone? Or is she just reflecting on what brought her to the past, making viewers the only ones in on it?
The mysteries of Nora West-Allen continue. There are a lot of questions surrounding Barry and Iris' daughter. Season 4 set up Season 5 to be the one that delivered answers. When she first surfaced on the series, she kept her identity a secret. Leading to the huge reveal -- or some would say confirmation -- that she was Iris and Barry's daughter from the future.
Nevertheless, you will have to stay tuned to learn more about Nora. The CW series will be back in "a flash." Okay, maybe a little longer than that. The Flash returns Tuesday, January 15 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. The series was among many shows airing new episodes this fall. It will return alongside many others in the new year.
Like a contented Hallmark movie character, Britt happily lives in the same city she grew up in. Along with movies and television, she is passionate about competitive figure skating. She has been writing about entertainment for 5 years, and as you may suspect, still finds it as entertaining to do as when she began.
