Brainy's Reaction To Major Supergirl Twist Will Break Your Heart In Exclusive Deleted Scene
Supergirl started out as the sunniest of the superhero shows in the Arrow-verse, but the Girl of Steel and her friends had some dark developments to deal with in Season 4 as the tide of public opinion began to turn on aliens. Thanks largely to the efforts of Agent Liberty, Lex Luthor, and the treacherous Eve Teschmacher, the Alien Amnesty Act was repealed, and the D.E.O.'s resident genius (and alien) Brainiac 5 was understandably upset by the twist.
The Season 4 episode "All About Eve" (available for rewatch thanks to the fourth season release on DVD and Blu-ray on September 17) was packed with twists and turns, and this exclusive deleted scene of Brainy talking to Alex Danvers at the D.E.O. about what happened will break your heart. Take a look!
Brainy went through a lot before he ever even appeared on Supergirl thanks to his status as a member of The Legion, and as he said in the deleted scene, he wasn't always welcomed in the places he and his friends visited to lend a hand.
At first, the scene almost seemed like it would going to be played for laughs, as Brainy told Alex that he'd once spent five weeks incognito disguised to look like "a sacred tree," but then he dropped the truly heartbreaking line that this was the first time that he was made illegal because of who he is. Bravo for that line delivery, Jesse Rath!
Earth was previously a reasonably safe place for aliens after President Marsdin (played by the always lovely and helpful Lynda Carter) passed the Alien Amnesty Act, and aliens like Brainy could have lived openly among humans if they so chose. The repeal of the act due to Agent Liberty, Lex, and Eve meant new suffering for aliens like Brainy.
Honestly, maybe Supergirl exploring Black Mirror-esque elements in Season 5 will mean that Brainy and Co. can catch a break! For her part, Alex was sympathetic to Brainy in this scene, which was unfortunately just about all she could do. All hands were already on deck to try and stop everything from getting worse.
Fortunately for those of us watching from home, watching the heroes fight the good fight meant a very entertaining fourth season of Supergirl. With Season 5 premiering in less than a month, the time is right to rewatch the highs and lows of the good guys in the previous season.
