Rick And Morty Season 5 Premiere Date Revealed In Explosive And Hilarious First Trailer

While the world is obviously still in rough shape for a multitude of reasons, we now already have our first trailer for Rick and Morty Season 5 less than 12 months after Season 4 ended. So clearly something is going not that terribly for someone somewhere. And it's us, because we get to see Rick and Morty returning this summer now that the premiere date has finally been revealed. It's a – rrrrrrrrrrrp – good day to exist, Morty. Now click play on the trailer above!
Thanks to this trailer, fans can have their musclebound, space-suited dogs mark their calendars for Rick and Morty's Season 5 premiere, which is coming on Sunday, June 20. And it looks like things are going to be appropriately messy, in terms of blood, explosions, Transformer-like beings, S&M Rick in a Hellraiser parody, strange horny ocean men, giant bugs and timeline-dimensional mishaps. There are always those.
Guess what? The Season 5 premiere won't be the only thing that fans of Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland's NSFW sci-fi comedy can look forward to on that day. Get ready to keep the Story Train idling in the parking lot for a while, because Adult Swim and Warner Bros. are celebrating June 20 as Rick and Morty Day, which will give fans around the world access to a variety of fun and morally corrupt good content. It's reported that sneak peeks of upcoming episodes, behind-the-scenes footage and more "special surprises" will be unveiled across Adult Swim's linear TV channel, as well as its digital sites and social media platforms.
And you know what? Even though the wait between Season 4 and Season 5 hasn't been nearly as long and torturous as hiatuses felt in years past, which I am grateful for, I would probably wait a lot longer if it meant audiences could watch a whole episode of Blade Rick and Blade Morty. That'd be tight as all hell.
One of those alt-timeline crystals also shows a dimension where Morty is holding a baby Rick, which is also awesome. I have to think that would be Morty's version of heaven, assuming that "murdering the child version of your grandfather" isn't a crime in heaven.
All in all, the Season 5 trailer gives Rick and Morty fans some moments to look forward to, but seemingly not a whole lot of giant narrative-spoiling bits, which is always nice. Going by some of the early details that Dan Harmon shared about Season 5, it looks like the Namor-esque character will serve as Rick's nemesis for at least one episode. Because obviously the clearest enemy of a brilliant, drunken scientist is a...wet person. I'll take it.
Rick and Morty Season 5 will give fans all the Rick on Rick action they can handle when it premieres on Adult Swim on Sunday, June 20, at 11:00 p.m. ET.
