Sam Heughan Has The Best Response After Marvel’s Karen Gillan Admits She’s Obsessed With Outlander
Many of us have had quite a bit of extra time on our hands in the past year or so, and there are loads of people who've spent that time either catching up on movies and TV shows they missed, or watched something for the first time. Apparently, celebrities are no different in this respect, because MCU star and former Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan just admitted she finally started watching Outlander and has become obsessed with it. Her reveal led to Jamie Fraser himself, Sam Heughan, offering the best response.
Obviously, Karen Gillan is far from being alone in her obsession with the time-traveling romantic drama, but she is, as she also admitted, very late to the party. Outlander is currently filming Season 6 for Starz, but it's really never too late to discover a new favorite now that streaming is beyond plentiful. As you can imagine, Outlander star Sam Heughan was pretty appreciative of his fellow Scottish actor's newfound love for the show he's worked so hard on for so many years, and had this to say on Twitter in response:
OMG. Can you imagine? Might we, at some point in the near-ish future, be able to watch Amy Pond get into some dangerous scrapes in the New World and find a helping hand from an always willing to fight for what's right Jamie? Actually, I'd love to watch Karen Gillan and Sam Heughan work in anything together, so Outlander really does seem like as good a place as any.
Those of us who've been enjoying Outlander for many moons now, and who've watched at least through Season 4, will know that there are plenty of Scottish folks living and working in and around Fraser's Ridge, where Jamie, his wife Claire and their many assorted family and friends have built homes for themselves. There'd be no problem at all working Karen Gillan in and having her show up to do something awesome for an episode or two.
And, this doesn't have to happen anytime soon, either. While Sam Heughan and the rest of the Outlander cast and crew are, as noted above, still working on Season 6, production is set to wrap on the shortened season very soon. But! The ever-popular show was granted Season 7 back in March, and there are nine total books in Diana Gabaldon's series, on which the show is based, so it's entirely possible that Outlander could complete the source material and that fans could see Karen Gillan pop up at some point well into the future of the show.
Here's hoping that the dreams of viewers everywhere come true, and that Outlander lasts on Starz long enough to completely wrap up the story as it's (basically) been laid out in the books, and that we actually get to watch Karen Gillan and Sam Heughan work together on the series eventually. I can already picture her as a distraught Revolutionary War widow, can't you?
Season 6 of Outlander should debut sometime in early 2022, but until then, be sure to see what you can watch in the coming weeks with our guide to 2021 summer TV!
