Chris Hardwick Adapting His Nerdist Podcast For BBC America

Affable comedian and self-described nerd Chris Hardwick has just signed a deal with BBC America to adapt his podcast into a talk show. The former host of MTV’s Singled Out and current emcee of Web Soup has been recording The Nerdist regularly since the beginning of 2010. A relatively standard discussion podcast, it primarily addresses nerd culture, random obsessions, and varying theories of comedy. Past guests have included everyone from Colin Hanks to Jimmy Fallon to Rainn Wilson.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the still untitled show will feature a roundtable of guests rather than a single celebrity, but other than that should closely resemble the original Nerdist podcast. Each week a different group will come aboard to discuss the newest technologies, the oldest favorites, and their own personal geek obsessions. I've seen Chris Hardwick live, and he is nothing if not good off the cuff. That talent should serve him very well recording a live show.

Beyond the pilot he’s developing, Hardwick will also serve as the host for BBC America’s upcoming “Ministry of Laughs” comedy block. The comedian will tape and star in a range of sketches to bridge the programs. Regardless of how the talk show ends up doing, you’ll be able to see his work on the “Ministry of Laughs” starting June 18th at 10 PM.
