ABC Family Adopts Two More Shows

It looks as though ABC Family has some new original programming in the works. Word is, that in addition to picking up ‘Greek’ for a full season, the network just green-lit two new pilots and is considering some other new half-hour and hour-long TV series.

To be honest, if someone told me this news a couple of months ago, I wouldn’t have been all that interested but I’m totally hooked on ABC Family’s new comedy series, Greek and this has certainly raised my interest in other shows the network might have to offer. The network recently began airing a new animated series titled, Slacker Cats and their hit show Kyle XY is well into it’s second season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC family just picked up two pilots titled Campers and Roomies. Happy Campers is a created by, Carter Covington who also happens to be one of the ‘Greek’ writers. It’s described as a single-camera project about a family on a cross-country road trip.

Roomies is pretty much just what it sounds like - a comedy about a bunch of friends who live together. Hopefully ABC Family will be releasing more information on these new shows sometime soon.

Most people hear the network’s name, “ABC Family” and assume that all of their programming is going to be kid-friendly 7th Heaven-type shows but parents should be warned that not all of their shows are G-Rated. Sure, ‘Greek’ might not have the steamy scenes you might find in an FX series but a lot of the humor is very adult-oriented and would appeal to older kids as well as adults.
