ABC is banking on the success of Supernanny to bring it another successful show. As sad as this is going to sound, they really are going to do it. This fall is going to bring us…get ready for it… SuperManny. That’s right. They are going there, and they are silly enough to call it that.

Apparently someone at Hollywood Reporter likes to write really late at night, because this story was posted around 1am. Anyway, ”the network will air an episode of Supermanny as a back-door pilot in the fall. The spinoff's format will remain similar to the original, with a child-development expert lending a family in crisis some tough-love guidance.

However, instead of professional nanny Jo Frost leading the living room intervention, gruff Chicago child therapist Mike Ruggles will step in."

So, they are trying to bring in a guy that dads can connect with. 'Cause so many guys are the main caregiver… I know there are a lot of stay-at-home-dads out there, and to you guys, I tip my hats (Stephen Colbert style). I think that while the title is dumb, the premise is good. Most dads have no clue how to connect with their kids, and if ABC has someone who can teach that, great.

I’m going to give it a chance, because with three kids, I find that Supernanny is a show that teaches me something every week. Maybe SuperManny will be able to teach me a thing or two.

If you don’t have kids, you may watch it just to be appalled at the lack of parenting skills that people have. Well, sadly, you have to be 21 to drink alcohol, and you have to get a license to drive a car, but any old fool can make a baby and raise it. None of us have the proper skills to be a great parent – we’ve got to learn from our parents and grandparents. And if you have crappy parents and grandparents, chances are you are going to be a crappy parent too.
