America's Got Puppet

Last night’s finale episode of America’s Got Talent proved that America’s love of puppets didn’t end with Howdy Doody when ventriloquist Terry Fator was crowned the winner of this year’s competition. According to E! Online, In addition to a million dollars, Fator gets to join the ranks of Celine Dion and Siegfried and Roy with his own headlining show in Vegas.

While all of the final four contestants were musically inclined (Fator’s competition included a reggae singer, a beatboxer and a country crooner), the ability to imitate singers such as Roy Orbison and Etta James without moving his lips proved to be enough to put Fator ahead of the pack.

The live two-hour long show was filled with the requisite amount of filler, the “highlight” being when David Hassellhoff got up and sang a never-ending song called “This is the Moment.” In addition to the musical stylings of the Hoff, the top ten finalists came back to remind the audience and their families at home why they weren’t quite talented enough to win.

The top four also performed celebrity duets. Cas Haley, the reggae singer, did a song with UB40, beatboxer Antoinette "Butterscotch" Clinton performed with Sean Kingston and 14-year-old Julienne Irwin sang a duet with country star Taylor Swift. Fator, however, upped the cute factor by doing his song with Kermit the Frog.
