Much has been said about Season 3 of Boardwalk Empire burning perhaps too slowly but last week's "The Pony" not only set fire to the narrative fuse but the action finally, and literally, exploded on the titular strip. And while the New York and Atlantic CIty conflicts are spilling blood on the Jersey Shore, things also got rather heated for the characters in Chicago, setting up all the story lines for the final push of the season.

There are only 4 episodes remaining in the third season and the preview for next week's installment once again has the characters touting an inevitable war. Will the first big battle take place in "The Milkmaid's Lot?" Or are the pieces still being put into place? Take a look...

Business and war seem to be the repeated key words in "The Milkmaid's Lot" and Nucky is certainty going to be outgunned if he had to go up against Gyp and Masseria without help from the other New York faction and it looks like Rothstein, Lucky and Meyer are done doing business with the trouble-making boss of AC. He's still got a lot of men, led by Owen, Eli and Chalky but hardly enough to fend off, well, everyone if they all come looking for a piece of his pie. Looks like an exciting Sunday night!

Boardwalk Empire airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. Created by Terence Winter, it stars Steve Buscemi, Kelly Macdonald, Michael Shannon, Shea Whigham, Vincent Piazza and Michael Stuhlbarg.
