For many sci-fi loving boys and girls, Christmas eve involves getting nestled all snug in their beds, with visions of tardises dancing in their heads as they anticipate the year's Doctor Who Christmas special set to air the next day. If you're among those who will fall asleep dreaming about the Doctor and his next adventure, you'll want to check out the trailer for this year's Christmas special, Doctor Who: The Snowmen.

This year's Christmas Special is especially special as it will introduce the Doctor's new companion, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman. As you'll see in the trailer below, the episode will have them setting off on their first adventure together as they attempt to save Christmas from Doctor Simeon and his army of icy (sharp-toothed) snowmen…

The wintery song "Frosty the Snowman" may seem a bit less cheery after this episode, I'm thinking. Still, fans are likely excited to meet the girl that will be serving as the Doctor's new companion. From the trailer, it looks like action, snow, running and kissing await in Doctor Who: The Snowman! Here's BBC America's full description for the special.
