FX Renews Archer For Season 4, Signs Multi-Year Deal With Executive Producers

It looks like Archer is getting at least one more season. FX just announced a fourth season renewal for their animated comedy as well as signing an overall deal with executive producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson's Floyd County Productions. With only four new episodes left in the series best third season, the network ordered a full 13 for next year and secured the EPs' production company for a multi-year deal that hints at a possible long and fruitful future for the world's best secret agent, code name Duchess.

Archer's audience has grown significantly from season to season while also garnering a little critical acclaim, including one Emmy nomination on top of a few Annie Award noms. I have the pleasure of recapping the Adam Reed-created series, and the fourth season renewal is not just well deserved but a long time coming. Starting with the phenomenal three-part miniseries, this season has been the funniest of the show's short run and, by mixing big laughs and incredible storytelling, Archer's become one of the most enjoyable shows to watch, period.

The multi-year deal between FX and animation studio Floyd County Productions (Reed and Thompson's company that produces both of FX's animated series, Archer and Unsupervised) is for two years with an option for another two. And it not only includes the possible future seasons of Archer but any new projects the network develops. Not a bad deal and since the animation is spectacular on the spy spoof, it's not surprisingly that FX would want them to work on any of their future animated series.

Here's the preview for tonight's episode "Bloody Ferlin." Archer airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX. It stars H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walters, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell and Amber Nash. It was created by Adam Reed.
