The Flash Trailer: Watch Mark Hamill's Return As The Trickster

Luke Skywalker isn’t the only famous role Mark Hamill is returning to this year. In three weeks, he’ll join The Flash, reprising James Jesse, a.k.a. The Trickster, a role he originally played over 20 years earlier on the 1990 Flash series. Now we have our first look at this new version of the wacky, trick-obsessed super villain thanks to a new trailer. Take a look!

People posted this preview for the next three episodes of The Flash, and in it we see Hamill bringing his own special brand of crazy to the CW series. Big props to The Flash production team for including old photos of Hamill as the Trickster from the first Flash series. He may not have fought a John Wesley Shipp Flash in this continuity, but he was still rocking the unitard back in the day. As for his look in the present day, his wardrobe has changed to something more subdued, although there are still hints of color with the polka-dot shirt underneath his jacket, and the flower lapel.

This version of James Jesse was described last winter as an “anarchist terrorist conman” who has spent the last 20 years in prison. He will assist the Central City Police Department in capturing the copycat Trickster Axel Walker, whom we see at the beginning of the trailer played by Dexter’s Devon Graye. However, judging by the sinister way he says he’s spent 20 years coming up with “the perfect trick,” it looks like Jesse’s days of causing chaos aren’t finished. The way he rapidly tells Flash to run is both intimidating and hilarious. This will be Hamill’s second time returning to the character, having previously voiced him in the Justice League Unlimited episode “Flash and Substance.”

This trailer also included first looks at two other Flash villains. Debuting next week in “Out of Time” is the new Weather Wizard Marc Mardon, played by Spartacus star Liam McIntyre. Marc will return to Central City to seek revenge against Joe for killing his brother, and from the brief clip, Marc looks just as powerful as Clyde.

The following week’s episode “Rogue Time” will officially introduce Captain Cold’s sister Lisa Snart, played by The Tomorrow People’s Peyton List. An unseen Lisa broke her brother and Heat Wave out of police custody at the end of “Revenge of the Rogues,” and in this episode she will try to prove to them that she has what it takes to join their gang. Like the other two thieves, it looks likes she’ll also be wielding her own unique firearm, along with plenty of charm.

The Flash returns with new episodes on March 17 at 8/7c on The CW.
