To quote a Tweet by TV writer/executive-producer Damon Lindelof, “In an alternate universe, FRINGE was just cancelled. In this one, however, SEASON FOUR, baby!” He’s not joking, either! If you’re a Fringe fan, you’ll be happy to know that word on the Twitter is, Fox is keeping the series around.

Between the move to Friday nights and the steady decline in ratings, Fringe certainly wasn’t a lock for renewal, which is why fans are likely to feel relieved by this news.

TV Line posted the Tweet from Fringe producer J.H. Wyman, stating, Fringe was picked up!!!! Thanks Fringedom!” The site left the story as “developing,” which likely means they’re trying to get official confirmation from the network on the series’ fate. While we wait for that, it’s probably safe to begin celebrating.

UPDATE: According to Deadline, not only is Fringe definitely renewed, but it's been given a full 22-episode order.
