Following the news of the set premiere dates of HBO’s upcoming new comedy Veep, as well as their political TV movie Game Change, comes word that the network has set the date for the return of the fantastic drama series Game of Thrones, which will debut its second season this April.

This isn’t an April Fool’s joke... hopefully. Though that should give you a pretty big hint as to when Season 2 of Game of Thrones will premiere on the pay-cable network. Coming Soon posted HBO’s announcement, which includes the premiere dates we shared yesterday for Veep and Game Change. The announcement also states that Game of Thrones will return for Season 2 on Sunday, April 1st at 9:00 p.m. Excluding the unlikely news that the show would come back sooner than April, the first of the month is the best (soonest) possible date we could have hoped for. The second season of Game of Thrones, a series that is based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series, will consist of ten episodes.

Meanwhile, those looking forward to the upcoming new comedy Girls, which is created by and starring Tiny Furntiture’s Lena Dunham, will have that to look forward to when it premieres Sunday, April 15th at 10:30 p.m. HBO has Veep set to be unveiled the following week. The Julia Louis-Dreyfus starring comedy will fit between Game of Thrones and Girls, premiering April 22nd at 10:00 p.m.
