The Hilarious Reason Michael Buble Was Fired From The X-Files

The behind-the-scenes world of creating TV shows can occasionally be merciless, and plenty of people who later got famous may have initially had a rough start in Tinseltown. Michael Bublé recently revealed a hilarious story from when he was first starting out in Hollywood. While we know the man now for his music career, when he was first starting out, Bublé took bit parts as extras on TV shows, including The X-Files, where he played a member of a submarine crew. That is, until he was unceremoniously fired from the set of the then-popular Fox series for a food-oriented gaffe.

In a recent interview, Bublé recounted how he was fired after grabbing food from the craft services table on the set, telling TV Line he was just really, really hungry--hungry enough to attempt something he wasn't supposed to do. Here’s the full story:

I swear to god, I was starving and I grabbed a hot dog off the craft services table. And this woman said I would never work again in Hollywood. I would be blacklisted and I would never, ever work in the business.

If you’ve ever been an extra on the set of a big show, you should know that the craft food table is generally off limits. You would think Bublé would have at least tried to be sneaky if he needed to get some food into his belly. Still, the real thing to take away from this story would be The X-Files production team member who took it upon herself to publicly fire Michael Bublé from his bit part and then be as aggressive and mean as possible in terms of the firing. As it turns out, the joke’s totally on her. In the time since, not only has Bublé done some more work on TV, popping up on SNL and recently filming a holiday special for NBC called Christmas in Hollywood, he is also responsible for numerous bestseller albums and is popular enough as a musician that most people know who he is, even if they don't dig his music.

Obviously, The X-Files survived despite firing one measly extra. In fact, The X-Files is set to return to the small screen really soon. The revival drama is set to bring back Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, but also a lot of other beloved characters that resonated with fans over the years. This includes characters like Walter Skinner and the Cigarette Smoking Man.

Plus, a slew of other big TV names are expected to appear during the revival. It's just a hunch, but we're pretty sure Michael Bublé won't be one of them.

The X-Files returns on Sunday, January 24 at 8 p.m., only on Fox. You can find out when the rest of your favorites are returning with our midseason TV premiere schedule.
