Mama June just doesn’t much care for the way South Park made fun of her daughter in the recent episode Raising the Bar. In fact, she finds the show to be downright “trashy” and just not something a lady such as herself would want to be a part of. Ok, she didn't say the lady part.
Alana, a.k.a Honey Boo Boo, the young pageant star who first appeared on TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras and then got her own reality show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has been the target of plenty of laughs and a number of spoofs since becoming a star. The South Park episode was only the most recent. The animated series had Honey Boo Boo in need of a heart transplant after eating too much “sketti and butter”. She goes out to choose a pig from which her new heart will be taken. For a child whose eating habits are at best questionable and at worst deplorable (she downs Red Bull on a regular basis) the satirical health scare may be a foreshadowing of a sad future.
While much of the world, myself included, is shaking their heads and wondering how television reached such a new low (brow) with Honey Boo Boo, the child star’s mother, “Mama June” is shaking her head instead at the South Park spoof. She told TMZ she though the show was “kinda trashy”, especially the focus on her weight. This from the woman who stars in a show where the pet pig used the dining room table as a toilet. While making fun of someone’s weight isn’t my idea of a good joke and I wouldn't call South Park high brow, I have to admit that Mama June calling another show trashy is just plain funny.
