While adventurer and survivalist Bear Grylls’ upcoming NBC series The Island will be centered on a group of “everyday” men, his returning show Running Wild with Bear Grylls is all about the celebrities. And Season 2 of Running Wild has landed some of the biggest names on the planet from the big screen, the small screen, and even the football field, with Divergent star Kate Winslet and many more superstars getting ready to test their skills.
Each of the eight episodes of Season 2 will pit Running Wild host Bear Grylls with a different guest for a two-day journey through different parts of the world where Starbucks and McDonald’s are nowhere to be seen. The celebs will generally take on their biggest fears as they face nature in a way that they probably haven’t before. (Is it just me, or does the Oscar-winning Kate Winslet seem like she’s not afraid of anything?) This season will take the celebs to Panama jungles, the Rocky Mountains, the Italian Alps and Utah’s Red Rocks, among other places.
We already know about Winslet, so let’s take a look at the rest of the cast below.
Michelle Rodriguez is a huge part of one of the world’s biggest blockbusters right now, as Furious 7 has amassed well over $1.4 billion. There presumably won’t be any cars dropping out of airplanes on Running Wild, but I’m betting Rodriguez will be just as successful in this venture.
The Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees is getting ready to try and bring the New Orleans Saints back to a place of prominence in the NFL. But he’d better hope there aren’t any bulky defensive linemen waiting for him on the mountain trails or the jungle paths.
One of the brightest young stars out there right now, Michael B. Jordan will soon get his biggest break yet as part of the Fantastic Four reboot. He’d better not use his Human Torch powers on anything out in the woods, or Grylls will spray him down with a hose.
With his X-Men days presumably behind him, James Marsden is getting ready for a world full of intelligent androids in HBO’s Westworld. No such violent technology will be waiting for him out in the wilderness, though. We hope.
The Oscar-nominated Kate Hudson is gearing up to star in Deepwater Horizon, the drama about the biggest oil spill in U.S. history. We can only assume Grylls will be taking her to places where such things can’t happen.
It doesn’t seem like Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Modern Family character Mitchell would be into heading out on these kinds of quests; that’s such a Cam thing to do. But Ferguson will probably be a much better sport about it.
Ed Helms was just seen in the new trailer for the Vacation sequel, so we know he’s probably ready to take on whatever is waiting in the wild. And if he brings his banjo, that’s even better.
Running Wild with Bear Grylls will premiere on NBC on Monday, July 13 at 10 p.m. ET. No one is going to tell on you if you put bourbon in your canteen.
