Legends Of Tomorrow: First Look At Sara Lance's New Female Love Interest

During her time on Arrow, Sara Lance didn’t get to enjoy a lot of love; her relationships with Nyssa al Ghul and Oliver Queen ended under less-than-fortunate circumstances. Now that Sara is getting a fresh start as White Canary coming up on Legends of Tomorrow, she’ll have a new opportunity at romance through 1950s resident Lindsay Carlisle. Carlisle will be played by Lost Girl actress Ali Liebert, but if you aren't familiar, the actress can be seen, below.

Legends of Tomorrow Ali Liebert

Lindsay is described as a “soft-spoken, intelligent lady who is the ideal picture of 1950s womanhood.” Although she seems at home in the era, the fact that she’s hiding she’s a lesbian (due to the cultural values at the time) has left her scared and worried she’ll live her life alone. Fortunately, meeting Sara in an upcoming episode will take a turn for the better when she falls in love with Sara. Here’s how executive producer Phil Klemmer described how Sara will meet Lindsay to EW:

At the start of this episode, we find Sara Lance completely out of place, both in time and place, visiting 1958 ‘Pleasantville, America’ — and also out of place emotionally. After Sara was brought back from the dead on Arrow, she hasn’t been herself — she’s been consumed by a quest for bloodshed and incapable of having romantic feelings for anyone. The strict social norms of the fifties makes this the last place Sara Lance would ever expect to find love with a young, closeted nurse, but that’s how love works — it finds you.

After being brought back to life in the Arrow episode “Restoration” and having her soul restored in “Haunted,” Sara has been dealing with the bloodlust that comes with being resurrected in the Lazarus Pit. Combined with time on Lian Yu with Oliver and killing for the League of Assassins, Sara’s dark past has left her feeling alone when she joins up with the other legends. While the team is in the ’50s, Sara will find herself caring about Lindsay more than she has for anyone in a while. Klemmer continued:

When Sara first meets Lindsay Carlisle, she finds herself in the position of caring about someone for the first time in forever — an idea she’s not entirely sure she’s ready for. It’s easy for our cold-hearted assassin to kill a hundred people, but does she have the ability to care about one?

Although it’s been said that Sara will be more lighthearted on Legends of Tomorrow compared to her tenure on Arrow, she’s still carrying a lot of baggage, but it sounds like meeting Lindsay will not only give her someone new to love, but also help her move forward with her life. Of course, given that these women are from two different times, not to mention Sara is part of the mission to defeat Vandal Savage, the romance will undoubtedly not end well, though depending on how Legends of Tomorrow progresses, perhaps they’ll run into each other again.

Liebert is best known for her recurring roles on shows like Lost Girl, Kyle XY, Strange Empire and Bomb Girls. Lindsay is one of the many new characters who the Legends of Tomorrow will come across during their time traveling adventures, including Soviet Union scientist Valentina Vostok and St. Roch University professor Dr. Aldus Boardman.

Legends of Tomorrow premieres Thursday, January 21 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
