Lex Luthor Confirmed For Smallville Finale

Lex Luthor back on Smallville is as natural as hot dogs at the ballpark. It has to be that way for there to be peace and happiness in the world. But for many years Michael Rosenbaum, who played Clark’s greatest rival for 7 seasons, refused to be wooed back for even a brief cameo. Just the other day I was looking at info that indicated the series would end without it’s only truly great villain. Now we have word from Rosenbaum himself, as well as the executive producers, that Lex will make a final appearance and become what he was destined for. To be the greatest criminal mind of our time.

According to TVLine Rosenbaum will return to Smallville for the May 13th 2 hour series finale as Lex Luthor. The deal was supposedly signed Friday evening. This is fantastic news for fans of the series because it was Luthor that drove the series in the better seasons. Since he left they’ve had to begin to rely heavily on the well known Superman mythos, utilizing the glasses for Clark or the “S” insignia to pop the story. It’s worked to a point, but it’s about damn time we get some Lex vs Clark/Supes action.

“[A]s far as the way he returns,” Smallville executive producers Kelly Souders and Brian Petersan said. “There’ll be no doubt about how Lex becomes the great rival in Clark Kent’s life. He is the villain of the story.”
