In case you forgot just how goofy former Saturday Night Live star Martin Short can be, he reminds us in the new promos for this Saturday night's episode, which will have Short serving as host, with musical guest Paul McCartney.

Martin Short back on SNL?! It's a Christmas miracle! Or a Christmas episode, anyway. Fred Armisen does the honors of promoting this Saturday's episode of SNL along with Martin Short in the promos below…

Since starring in the NBC sketch comedy series in the 1984-85 season, Short has hosted twice. The first time around was in the 80s with his Three Amigos co-stars Chevy Chase and Steve Martin. And the next time was in the 90s. So it's been a while since we've seen the actor hosting, and I'm sure we're all a little hopeful that, with Short's third hosting turn, there will be a return of one of his most memorable SNL characters Ed Grimley. Whether or not that's the case remains to be seen, but the promos below indicate that he's still just as goofy as ever and willing to show it for a laugh.

Meanwhile, Paul McCartney is serving as the musical guest. Fans of McCartney's musical talents can also catch him on TV tonight (Wednesday, 12/12), as he's among the performers for the 12-12-12: The Concert For Sandy Relief.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
